Deer Creek Hunt Clubby Pat Lieske "The club is situated on 500 acres of woods, meadows and fields of sorghum that are managed exclusively for upland hunting." Deer Creek Hunt Club -- located in the southwest corner of Michigan -- provides a wide variety of wing shooting and clay target opportunities. The club is situated on 500 acres of woods, meadows and fields of sorghum that are managed exclusively for upland hunting.
I hope that you haven't gotten the impression that the clay target shooter has been left out. Sporting clays, five-stand, skeet and a very elaborate wobble trap all await you. The sporting clay course includes a 60-foot tower with two traps that present high driven shots as well as long crossers. The rest of the course follows a large ravine where targets are presented both above and below you. Using a combination of automatic and manual traps throughout the course provides a great amount of target diversity. One of the interesting shots is a gravity rabbit that descends down into the ravine about thirty feet below you. This shot is very deceptive and requires very little lead (just a tip). Another interesting shot is the wobble trap, which is shot from an elevated platform with six different shooting positions. It can be shot by you or as a group, flurry fashion. Needless to say it is lots of fun. Registered tournaments and fun shoots are scheduled through out the year. If you would like to know more about Deer Creek Hunt Club, call Don Hicks at 616-756-6600.
