Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring cleaning can give us the opportunity to become more organized. During this time of the year, we generally spend a lot of time methodically cleaning each and every piece of the house, until there’s no dust left and everything is in its own place. To make things a little easier for you, here’s a list of things to help you while cleaning your house.

Cleaning your carpets should be done very often, because they tend to absorb dirt, body oil and plenty of germs. So you’ll need to clean them very well if you want to remove stains, dirt, etc. A carpet cleaner is actually the best solution, but make sure to test it before you start cleaning your carpets because there are some treatments which can discolor fabrics or damage the materials. It isn’t really needed to move your furniture from the room, simply cover the legs of the furniture with wax paper, to protect them from getting wet.

Walls and cabinets

Your walls and cabinets definitely need some cleaning so grab a thick sponge and some dishwashing detergent and start cleaning the surfaces. To reach higher spots, use a mop with a long handle. After you’ve finished washing the walls and cabinets, use a cloth to dry the surface.

Light fixtures

During Spring cleaning, light fixtures are just some of the things that are overlooked but people tend to forget that dust or bacteria can easily set on just everything, and not just on floors. Use an all-purpose cleaner, a cloth or a sponge to remove dust from your lighting and ceiling fans. If you can’t reach, consider buying a stepladder from your local hardware store.

The refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker are just some of the appliances that you use on a regular basis, so be sure to clean them very well, and not just during spring, but at least once a week. Most germs and bacteria are found in the kitchen so give them a good scrubbing with some cleaning solution or for a natural alternative vinegar and water.

Curtains and blinds

Curtains tend to get dirty very often because they absorb kitchen odors and cigarette smokes, which can cause some noticeable stains especially on delicate curtains. Curtain cleaning is not an easy thing to do, but the most challenging part is ironing them. For that purpose, we recommend using a clothes steamer. This device will not only eliminate wrinkles, but it will also help you eliminate bad odors. It can be used on clothes, on curtains and even on upholstery. Make sure to invest in a clothes steamer, which can be used for a variety of materials, such as silk, cotton or polyester. Discover more details about these devices on the steamer.clothing website. A garment steamer that has a telescopic pole is more recommended for removing wrinkles or stubborn stains from your curtains and blinds.
