Pocono Mountains; A Playground for All Seasons and All Reasons
The Pocono Mountains are well recognized as a land of diversity. Located in northeastern Pennsylvania, the region's glacier sculptured ridges and valleys, dense forest and countless lakes and rivers combine to offer an outdoor paradise. The name Pocono is derived from a Native Indian word which means a stream between the mountains. The Pocono Mountains boasts of 18 scenic waterfalls. The area truly is a playground for all seasons and all reasons.

St. Francisville, Louisiana: Same Place, Another Time
Last April Jeep's Cajun Jamboree was held in the scenic and historic Louisiana town of St. Francisville, which is located on U.S. 61 an easy hour's drive northwest of Baton Rouge. For the occasion I was asked to create an article informing participants in the Jamboree about the excellent fishing opportunities which are found in this area, and I sincerely hope some of you were able to take advantage of them along with the festivities in and around town.

Winter trails along the Rubicon snowline
The afternoon light was fading in the winter Sierra, and a dim shape bounded up the road bank ahead. Tufted ears, mid-length striped tail... a bobcat! The cat was on the hunt, moving among the deadfalls up slope, not caring that the truck had stopped. A few moments and the ghostly shape disappeared into a grove of young fir trees. Wildlife agencies call it "wildlife viewing." I like to call it scouting. I guess I'm really out to see the wildlife, but I always carry a shotgun or light rifle for squirrels and quail. When I see a buck in rut, or encounter a black bear, my mind makes a mental note for next season.

We now have our guide to all 54 U.S. National Parks. For each park you'll find a map, park overview, history, activities, attractions, services and reservation information.

Besides the terrain, which is quite unusual for Louisiana, several rare varieties of plants are present here. In fact, this is the only place in the state where some of them are found! Also, a diversity of wildlife inhabit the area, both game and non-game species.

Well known as the honeymoon capital of the mid-Atlantic states, the first after-the-wedding hotel was built in 1945. This rustic operation catered only to honeymooners and proof of marriage was required. It was such a success that during the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, there was unparalleled construction of numerous romantic resorts.

The winter months are the best time for wildlife viewing in the Sierra, since the popular deer hunting season is over, fair weather campers are back home, and anglers have been deterred by stream closures and cold weather. As a result, slipping through the woods becomes a great way to find an otherwise rare opportunity to view animals that are off their guard.
